We offer classes for all students from beginner to the very experienced.
Intro to Iyengar Yoga
Here you will learn the first foundational yoga asanas as well as beginning techniques for quieting a busy mind and experiencing deep relaxation. This class is great for total beginners or those who have no previous Iyengar Yoga experience.
Practice the fundamentals of yoga asanas (poses). Standing poses, seated poses, twists, beginning forward extensions, simple backbends, and deep relaxation will be practiced. For students who attend regularly, shoulderstand will be introduced step by step and practiced according to your capacity.
Intermediate & Advanced/Level 2
Level 2 classes are more vigorous than Level 1 and include longer pose holds, linked series of poses, and new types of poses. Inversions (headstand, shoulderstand, and variations) will be introduced and practiced according to your capacity. Techniques of pranayama (yogic breathing) are taught. This class is for students who are comfortable moving at a faster pace.
Learn the foundational asanas of the Beginners/Level 1 class but at a gentle pace that is clear and easy to follow. This class is a favorite among Seniors, but adults of all ages are welcome and will derive benefit.
Restorative poses and pranayama (breathing techniques) will be taught in this class. Restorative poses release stored up tension in the body and calm the nervous system. These supported poses have a cooling effect on the body and are very effective in replenishing our energy reserves. Pranayama helps to maintain the vital energy of the body. Restoratives is a class for all level students.
This class is suitable for all levels of students from beginners to seasoned yoga practitioners. The sequence of poses and the pace are adjusted to suit the students who are present, with alternatives and modifications offered throughout the class.
